Summer Biotech Immersion

Get your biotech mojo back at our Summer Biotech Immersion program!

15 teachers joined Georgia BioEd for the 2nd annual Georgia BioEd Institute Summer Biotech Immersion program for teachers, sponsored by UCB, Inc. from June 3-7, 2019 at Paulding County High School. Teachers learned the skills and confidence needed to provide meaningful biotech laboratory experiences for students.

Led by 2017 Georgia Bio Teacher of the Year, Marc Pedersen and 2019 Georgia Bio Teacher of the Year, Tricia Pedersen, participants practiced everything from preparing solutions and using sterile technique, to extracting DNA, transforming bacteria, running PCR and ELISA, and more, all in the context of Georgia’s bioscience industry and careers.

Participants will received a $300 stipend, plus lunch daily.
