Please join Georgia Bio's Emerging Leaders Network for our next Small Dinner event featuring Sarah Sharman, Ph.D.

Dr. Sarah K. Sharman is a Patent Agent in the Intellectual Property Practice of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP. Dr. Sharman is a recent graduate of Augusta University where she received her PhD in Biomedical Sciences in the department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. While pursuing her degree, Sarah’s research focused on the prevention and treatment of constipation and colorectal cancer by increasing cGMP signaling in the colon mucosa through the use of PDE-5 inhibitors and GC-C agonists. This research led to two first-authored, peer-reviewed manuscripts and numerous poster presentations at national meetings.

When she is not grinding away in the lab she enjoys exercising and being outdoors. Sarah loves to kayak and fish in ponds and lakes around her house. She is a huge reader, enjoying non-fiction, fantasy, and historical fiction to name a few. In addition to being a bibliophile, Sarah also loves watching movies and hanging out with friends and family. Prior to pursuing her PhD, Sarah received a biology-psychology degree from Birmingham-Southern College.
