About Georgia Bio

Georgia Bio (GaBio), founded in 1989, is a non-profit, membership-based organization that promotes the interests and growth of the life sciences industry.  It is the state’s largest and most influential life sciences advocacy and business leadership organization which works to improve access to innovative technologies and grow Georgia’s life sciences economy. Members include companies, universities, research institutions, government groups and other industry associations involved in discovery and application of life sciences products and related services that improve the health and well-being of people throughout the world.

The life science industry encompasses any initiative aimed at improving the quality and standard of life. Its many industry sectors include biotechnology, medical devices, biopharmaceuticals, health IT/digital health, research institutes, global health, bio-agriculture and bio-fuel. Georgia Bio is fully-funded through memberships, sponsorships, and event registration fees.

Mission

Georgia Bio's mission is to advance the growth of Georgia’s life sciences industry and foster strategic partnerships that can create a healthier world.

To accomplish this mission, GaBio conducts business and economic development activities; advocates on behalf of the industry on public policy matters; educates the public about the benefits of life sciences research and product development; and provides a network for the exchange of ideas, information and opportunities.

Strategic Priorities

Georgia Bio is a non-profit industry association whose strategic priorities are to:

  • Improve the health of people, animals and the environment
  • Expand the number of high paying, advanced technology jobs
  • Enhance student achievement in science education

National Partnerships

BIO | Council of State Bioscience Associations (CSBA)

BIO LogoGeorgia Bio is the state affiliate of the Washington, D.C.-based Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO), making Georgia Bio members part of statewide, national and international promotional and advocacy networks for the life sciences industry, the Council of State Bioscience Associations (CSBA). CSBA is a confederation of state-based, non-profit trade organizations each governed by its own board of directors. The Georgia Bio President is a past chair of this board. The common mission of the members of the CSBA is to promote public understanding, and to advocate for public policies that support the responsible development of the bioscience industry. This confederation provides Georgia Bio members with access to discount vendor programs through the BIO Business Solutions program. Learn more here.
