ATLANTA—February 26, 2010—Despite an ailing economy and sluggish job market, a new life sciences recruiting firm has emerged and is creating opportunities for companies and job seekers serving the industry.

Advanced Recruiting Partners (ARP) is one of a few Atlanta-based staffing agencies solely dedicated to serving biopharmaceutical and life sciences companies. Established in August of last year, owners Jennifer Maffia and Nellie Mcgrath recognized the potential that the Georgia “hotbed” had to offer and established a business model to meet their hiring and cost containment needs. “Even in tough economic times, these companies still need professionals that are critical to producing new drugs, agricultural biotechnology and biofuels. The only difference is that ARP is being contracted to keep headcount and overhead low, as opposed to assisting with staff ramp-ups,” said Jennifer. The company is also considered a cost-effective alternative to outsourcing to CROs and consultant.

In addition to aiding life science companies, ARP is also helping industry professionals go back to work. The industry once thought to be “recession-proof” has endured declining employment numbers since July of 2008, according to Staffing Industry Analysts. As a result, many candidates are leveraging staffing companies, such as ARP, to gain access to opportunities that may not be advertised through typical job search channels.

ARP benefits from thirty-plus years of combined experience and offers a wide range of industry professionals and placement options. Jennifer Maffia’s professional background includes working as a senior-level recruiter for a world-renowned, life sciences staffing company. Her partner, Nellie Mcgrath, recruited successfully for fifteen years in Georgia. “Because of our backgrounds, we both have an in-depth understanding of the industry and are uniquely qualified to address the needs of our clients and candidates,” said Nellie Mcgrath.
