4th Annual Medical Device Regulations Conference

Location: Athens, GA
Website: Click here to learn more.

The 4th Annual Medical Device Regulations Conference will be held November 1-2, 2016 at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education in Athens. This conference is jointly sponsored by the UGA College of Pharmacy and the US Food and Drug Administration.

Please consider attending, and let your colleagues know about the conference as well.  This is an outstanding opportunity to gain exposure to current thinking regarding medical device quality and regulatory affairs from both industry and FDA management.  The conference is one day in length, and there are also two outstanding (and very cost effective) ½ day-long workshops available that will cover 510(k) submissions and Quality Assurance.

Using a tutorial approach, experienced leaders from the FDA, industry, and consulting firms will present and engage the audience on issues related to strategic implications of FDA device regulations.  The conference has also been accredited for 6 hours of Regulatory Affairs Continuing Education credit.

This year’s conference topics are timely and valuable:  Ruth Dixon, FDA New Orleans District Director, will discuss Import/Export Common Problems & Recommendations, and a representative from the FDA’s Office of Surveillance and Biometrics will review Electronic Filings & Their Challenges – FDA Hints to be Successful.

There will also be industry speakers presenting on Post Market Surveillance Requirements – EU & US Comparisons, Advertising & Promotion, Combination Products, and Changes to the Medical Device Directive.  In addition, as mentioned above two in-depth workshops will be available on the topics of 510(k) submissions and Medical Device Quality.  These have proven very popular as they provide a tremendous amount of information and opportunity for interaction in a participatory classroom environment.

We hope that you will be able to attend this year’s conference.  To register, please visit or contact Elise Fortson at 706-542-6232 or

Drug Development Boot Camp 2016

Harvard University

Date: November 16-17, 2016
Location: The Harvard Club – Boston, MA
Website: Click here to learn more.

Why is there a need for training in drug development? Drug development is a complex process. Each compound or molecule that enters drug development requires a unique drug development program to be devised by the Project Team. Even after many years of working in drug development, many drug developers with decision making authority lack in-depth understanding of the drug development process. It becomes harder and harder to gain this knowledge the longer one is in the drug development arena. Who wants to admit in front of colleagues that they don’t understand everything discussed in project team meetings.

The Drug Development Boot Camp was founded by Dr. Lorna Speid. She is a global regulatory affairs and drug development expert. After watching many of her clients make avoidable and expensive mistakes, she decided to help as many as she could avoid those mistakes. The Boot Camp uses accelerated learning techniques to train executives and people working at the cutting edge of new drug R&D, in drug development. The seventh Boot Camp will be held with Harvard University OTD at the Harvard Club on November 16-17, 2016.
