Axion Biosystems expands in Buckhead

Atlanta-based life sciences startup Axion Biosystems is expanding its office footprint.
Axion has leased nearly 4,500 square feet at 1819 Peachtree Road, bringing its total office footprint to about 12,500 square feet in the seven-story building in lower Buckhead.
The VentureLab graduate is commercializing technology that will allow scientists to evaluate the electrophysiology of neural cells and cardiac cells.
Axion develops and sells life science instrumentation. The company's product, which includes an electronic device integrated with microelectrodes, improves the drug screening process by rapidly extracting valuable information from more complex tissues and cultures, company.
Axion's product helps advance the government’s objective of reducing animal testing by giving scientists insight into the behavior of cells.
Privately held Axion has raised about $10 million through private investors and federal grants.
“We had an urgent need for expansion space due to rapidly growing year over year sales,” Axion CEO Tom O’Brien said in a statement. “We did not want to relocate since our current location is very convenient and accessible for our employees."
Bo Keatley, with real estate firm Cresa Atlanta, represented Axion on the office lease negotiations.
