A new investor group, backed by Atlanta health industry A-listers including Ray Schinazi, Dennis Liotta and Bill Hawkins, plans to help build the next generation of medtech, biosciences and digital health companies. The BioMed Investor Network will focus on early stage science-based companies that have intellectual property and develop products and services needing U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval. BioMed, led by Russell Allen and Frank McDaniel, expects to have at least 75 investor members by year-end, including pharma exec Ed Schutter, cardiologist and entrepreneur Jay Yadav and venture capitalist John Huntz.
