Georgia Bio Launches the Georgia BioEd Institute

Atlanta, GA (September 16, 2013) – Georgia Bio today announced the launch of the Georgia BioEd Institute.  Georgia Bio will continue to focus on the improvement of business conditions in the industry and advocacy as a trade association, and the Georgia BioEd Institute will focus on life science education and workforce development efforts in Georgia.  The Georgia BioEd Institute will be a division of Georgia Bio and be overseen by a Board of Advisors, which will report to the larger Georgia Bio Board of Directors.

Georgia Bio and the Georgia BioEd Institute will collaborate on activities that support the life sciences in the state. "This is a major step for more than just the organization," said Russell Allen, President & CEO of Georgia Bio.  "This represents the maturation of the Georgia life science community as we meet increasing demands from our growing companies."

The Georgia BioEd Institute programs will be managed by Melissa Nikolic, Director of Education and Workforce Development. Georgia Bio has a long history of service and collaboration with educators and industry in the region. This formalization of the Georgia BioEd Institute allows Georgia Bio to focus on expanding these initiatives for the Georgia bioscience and medtech industries, and to bring new energy and resources to bear on educational challenges.

Additional activities, an enhanced website and marketing materials for the Georgia BioEd Institute will be rolled out in the months ahead.
