| Description: | Georgia Bio announces its second Life Sciences Workforce Forum, bringing together employers, educators, and economic developers for a discussion of life science workforce needs and how Georgia is addressing those needs. This year’s theme is building and maintaining partnerships to improve science education. The opening keynote address will be provided by Dr. Bruce Fuchs, Director, Office of Science Education at the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Fuchs will provide a perspective on the critical role science education plays in maintaining US economic competitiveness and how the NIH is investing in this future workforce.
The Forum will include a panel discussion from leading employers, and educators who have had extensive experience in implementing partnerships in the community and will discuss key lessons and insights from their involvement in such programs. Participants will also have an opportunity to network with other attendees and distribute literature about their programs and interests at the event.
The half-day session will end with a closing keynote by Dr. Tony Beck, Program Director of the Science Education Partnership Program at NCRR/NIH. Dr. Beck, who manages this funding program for innovative science education partnerships, will discuss best practices in creating and sustaining innovative partnerships, and provide practical advice and strategies for ensuring successful collaborations.
This event is designed for industry, k-12, post-secondary, and economic development professionals who are interested in establishing or improving their outreach and connections to life science talent in the region.
