Join us in Athens, GA for this month's Startup Stories seminar presented by the UGA Innovation Gateway!!  Dr. Alex Harvey will present Viamune.

ViaMune is working to commercialize a novel cancer immunotherapy platform called ViaTIP (VIAmune Tripartitie ImmunoTherapy).  The ViaTIP technology was  developed at the University of Georgia Complex Carbohydrate Research Center in collaboration with the Mayo Clinic and with support from NIH.  Viamune's lead product targets the cancer tumor antigen, MUC1, which is over-expressed in more than 90% of known cancer tumors.  Once identified and labeled, tumor cells are made susceptible to a natural immune response.  In 2014, Cancer Immunotherapy was recognized by the journal Science as the Breakthrough of the Year and researchers around the globe are working to realize the full potential of this new strategy for fighting cancer.   Alex will share his experience moving this promising technology out of UGA and into the market.  We'll also hear about the company's future direction and some of the lessons learned along the way.  We hope to see you there!
A light lunch and refreshments will be provided.
