Atlanta Science Festival

The Atlanta Science Festival is an annual public celebration of local science and technology. Curious people of all ages will explore the science and technology in our region and see how science is connected to all parts of our lives. Scientists and educators from museums, local schools, universities, and companies will uncover mysteries and explain discoveries in a variety of hands-on activities, facility tours, stimulating presentations, and riveting performances to expand our community of science enthusiasts and inspire a new generation of curious thinkers.

Atlanta Science Festival's EXPLORATION EXPO will take place Saturday, March 25, 2017, 11am-4pm at Centennial Olympic Park. Atlanta's biggest interactive science event is FREE and open to adults, families, and children of all ages and interests. The Exploration Expo promotes science exploration, discovery and innovation with more than 100 interactive exhibits, hands-on experiments, mind blowing demos and performances!

Spring 2017 IEN Soft Lithography for Microfluidics Short Course

The Institute for Electronics and Nanotechnology (IEN) at Georgia Tech will offer a new short course on “Soft Lithography for Microfluidics” on April 13 & 14, 2017. This course module is designed for individuals interested in hands-on training in the fabrication of microfluidic devices using the soft lithography technique. This 2 day intensive short course will be structured to assume no prior knowledge of the technologies by the participants. The course agenda is evenly divided between laboratory hands-on sessions, including SU-8 master mold creation using photolithography and PDMS device fabrication in the IEN cleanroom, and supporting lectures. The goal for this course is to impart a basic understanding of soft lithography for microfluidic applications as practiced in academia and industry.

Proven Faculty Entrepreneur Training Course--Kauffman FastTrac® TechVenture™

The Office of Technology Transfer (OTT), along with the Atlanta Clinical & Translational Science Institute (ACTSI), will be offering the Kauffman FastTrac® TechVenture™ entrepreneur training course again in 2017. This is a six full-day course (over seven weeks) designed to train faculty entrepreneurs who plan to create a start-up company to commercialize their inventions. The course has been conducted at Emory six times since 2012 and it was well received by faculty participants.

Eligibility: All faculty members at the ACTSI partner institutions (Emory, Georgia Tech, Morehouse School of Medicine and The University of Georgia) are eligible to apply for the course.
